Trefanny’s Inn ~ Cornwall and Trefanny's extra ingredient is a growing reputation for good, local food. Situated in the middle of our own tiny hamlet, Trefanny's Inn is only a very short stroll from your cottage, offering you the perfect opportunity for an evening out without having to drive. Jane (John's sister) and her daughter Hanna (representing the third generation of our family) welcome you with a cosy, friendly and informal atmosphere. They offer a wide selection of Cornish brewed, bottled ales, local ciders and an extensive wine list.
Their delicious menu is carefully chosen to showcase the wonderful choice of local food and varied daily to take advantage of the freshest produce. We collect our fish fresh from the quay in Looe, all our meat is traditionally reared on local farms, our vegetables are locally grown and we serve Cornish cheeses and ice-creams. We are doing our best to keep food miles to a minimum!
All our food is freshly prepared to our own special recipes. We always offer a vegetarian choice (several if we know in advance) and we are happy to cater for parties and/or special diets if you tell us your requirements beforehand.
Your children are made welcome, during the early part of the evening, with a box of toys and their own menu. Baby Monitors are available for most cottages if you prefer to settle your children in your cottage and eat while they are asleep.
Space is very limited so prior booking is advisable.
Trefanny's Inn is usually open on Friday and Saturday evenings right through the year with additional openings, up to six evenings a week, depending on demand. We are normally closed on Wednesdays but we can usually change if you have a special occasion to celebrate.
Christmas @ Trefanny
At this very special time of year Trefanny Hill has a traditional festive atmosphere. We have a large, lit Christmas tree, usually from our own woodland, in the centre of the hamlet. A day or two before Christmas Eve we all gather outside the Inn for Carols with the local Silver Band. Hot mulled Cider and homemade mince pies are handed round. This is a truly magicaloccasion. Jane and Hanna will be serving a traditional Chrismas lunch on Christmas Day with roast Turkey and all the trimmings and Jane's special Christmas Pudding along with other delicious choices.
Trefanny Hill's Meal Service ~ If you prefer to dine in the comfort of your cottage, Jane & Hanna offer an exciting, quality meal service . Showcasing seasonal, local produce, the Coombe Kitchen menu and details of how to pre-order a meal for your arrival.

History of Trefanny Hill
Dating back to medieval times, this ancient hamlet of ‘Hille’ at one time formed part of the Lanhydrock estate, boasting its own cobbler and blacksmith as well as a chapel and schoolhouse. Abandoned after the war, it became derelict but was re-discovered 47 years ago by the Slaughter family who made it their home, drawn by their local ancestry. The loving restoration of the cottages and barns has been the work of two generations of this family ~ the grounds enhanced by the addition of a lake, swimming pool, tennis court, woodland plantation and walks, etc.
The Family
Trefanny Hill is both our home and our family business, so the cottages receive high standards of personal care and attention to detail, and we are always at hand if you require any additional requirements or assistance.
We look forward to welcoming you to Trefanny Hill.
Your hosts,
John and Suzanne Slaughter

Arrival details will be sent to you with your receipt and a little map to help you find us more easily ~ (please do not attempt to find us from Duloe), and menu for the home cooked meals service. Our nearest main line train station is at Liskeard (8 miles)
Our nearest airports are Plymouth (30 miles) or Newquary (40 miles): however, these are only small, domestic airports. There are larger airports at Exeter (60 miles) or Bristol (100 miles). Whichever you choose you will need a hire car as our closest bus service is in Pelynt (1.5 miles from the cottages).
We would suggest a car is necessary if you wish to explore Cornwall and our local area from Trefanny Hill.
We are five miles from the picturesque fishing harbours of Looe and Polperro, approached from the village of Pelynt, with its shops, down one and a half miles of a typically narrow Cornish lane, tarmac surfaced, with passing places and pretty hedgerows right to your cottage gate and parking space. This is an idyllic setting not too far away from the many local attractions, coastline and beaches. But, if you donot like the countryside, you will not like Trefanny Hill. However, if you do ~ Trefanny Hill is a country lover's paradise.
