Situated in one of the most beautiful valleys in Cornwall, Trefanny Hill provides the most lesiurely environment for you to enjoy a variety of recreational pastimes … including eating!
Trefanny’s Inn ~ To take the catering out of self catering ~ we have our own tiny Inn situated in the middle of our hamlet, just a short stroll from your cottage, offering you the perfect opportunity for an evening out without having to drive.
Jane (John's sister) and her daughter Hanna (representing the third generation of the family) welcome you eith a cosy, friendly and informal atmosphere. They offer a selection of Cornish, bottled beers, local ciders and an extensive wine list.
Their carefully chosen menu is freshly prepared and varied daily to take advantage of the amazing choice of local produce. We collect our fish fresh from Looe Quay, all our meat is traditionally reared on local farms, we use locally grown vegetables and Cornish cheeses and ice-creams. We are doing our best to keep food miles to a minimum.
We always offer a vegetarian choice (several if we know in advance) and we are happy to cater for parties and/or special diets if you give us your requirments beforehand.
Your children are made welcome, during the early part of the evening, with a box of toys and their own menu. Baby monitors are available for most cottages if you prefer to settle your children and eat while they are asleep.
Space is very limited so prior booking is advisable.
We are open on Fridays and Saturdays right through the year and addtionally open up to six nights a week according to demand. We are normally closed on Wednesdays but can usually change if you have a special occassion to celebrate.

Heated Swimming Pool~ Our beautiful, heated swimming pool, with its heated poolside changing rooms, is usually open from Easter until the end of October so that you can enjoy the unique facility of bathing in an outdoor tropical pool (in the mid 80’s F and above), surrounded by palm trees while overlooking breath-taking, panoramic views.
Badminton Court ~ Our grass badminton court shares the same fabulous, south-facing outlook with the swimming pool!
Tennis Court ~ Our hard surface tennis court also has wonderful views ~ landscaped unobtrusively into our grounds on the edge of the hamlet.
Games Room ~ Situated at the entrance to the swimming pool area with views across the valley overlooking the lake, our games room includes a pool table and table football as well as an assortment of games for younger children, including a wooden train set. Giant chess and draughts is available down by the pool and there is a selection of board games to borrow from the office.
Children's Play Area ~ For children and the young at heart, our multi activity climbing frame, includes a BurmaBridge , swing and slide, all on a forest bark surface; and there is a sandpit, wendy house and picnic table.
Lake~ Shimmering beneath the hamlet is our lake ~ frequented by wild mallard ducks, frogs, swallows, moorhens, a small gaggle of Canada Geese and other wildlife and favoured by our gentle shire horses ~ adding a further touch to the magic of Trefanny Hill.
Woodland Walks ~ For those of you who enjoy a stroll from your garden gate, you can amble through Percy’s Spinney * to extensive woodlands beyond with wonderful walks leading to extensive woodlands and surrounding rolling expanses, including a marvellous wooded riverside ramble to Looe and cliff walks beyond and beaches and coves. Discover enchanting wooded riverside rambles and plunging streams ~ always so beautiful in Spring~time with masses of primroses, daffodils, bluebells, foxgloves and a myriad of other colourful wild flora clustered amidst the trees. You may well see herons and many magnificent birds of prey, foxes, badgers, rabbits, stoats, weasels and even deer.

Golf Practice Net ~ We have a golf practice net with an all weather driving range mat and good local golf courses nearby.
Horse Riding ~ There are superb, local riding stables, catering for all ages, experience and size available locally.
Diving ~ Scuba dive off South East Cornwall including the Scylla, James Eagan Layne and Eddystone. Our local diving school, Looe Divers, offers recreational and technical training, RIB and hard boat charter and equipment sales, servicing and rentals.
Active-8~ offer a service to our visitors, arranging specific activities, including, Canoeing, Rock Climbing, Surfing lessons, Bike rides, 4x4 off road driving, guided walks, etc. available in the area at the same price as a direct booking. They also have a wonderful delicatessen in Looe.
Local Shops ~ In our localvillageofPelynt , just one a half miles away, we are lucky to have an excellent grocery shop with a good range of fruit and vegetables, bakery, newsagent, post office, DVD rental and off-licence. We also have a superb, local butcher with his own grocery store, as well as supermarkets in Liskeard and elsewhere.

Local Attractions ~ There are a wealth of local attractions easily accessible from Trefanny Hill and we have folders available and many leaflets on places to visit. These include the picturesque fishing ports of Looe and Polperro: the internationally renowned Eden Project; several National Trust properties, including Lanhydrock and Cotehele; the National Marine Aquarium, National Maritime Museum, Restormel Castle, Bodmin Steam Railway, Porfell Animal Farm, the Monkey Sanctuary, etc. etc., as well as, beautifully rugged, Bodmin Moor and the variety of beaches, bays and hidden coves skirting our stunning coastline.

Our Office~ is in the gable end of a barn on the edge of the hamlet. It is probably the easiest point of contact during your stay, (although, of course, you will also see us around the hamlet). We keep a supply of ordinance survey maps and some leaflets on places to visit (although most leaflets are in the telephone hut*) as well as a selection of videos (free library) and board games to borrow; also binoculars. For any holiday information or suggestions, you are welcome to come up to the office and we will endeavour to assist. *We have a telephone hut in the hamlet which is a little stone building where you can make outgoing calls and where we also keep a variety of leaflets on local attractions.

Baby Sitters ~ We offer a baby sitting service to our visitors. Responsible local baby sitters can be arranged ~ the earlier you book, the more likely they are to be available and to arrange their own transport.
